Data Protection

The Usercentrics CMP connects to Consent Overlays and controls them. Thus, the CMP protects your visitors' privacy as well. There is no connection to any third-party servers unless a visitor has given his consent.

What's the difference between Usercentrics and Consent Overlays?

Consent Overlays is responsible for data protection, Usercentrics is responsible for Consent Management. If you run Usercentrics, you use both Consent Overlays and Usercentrics.

Usercentrics is a "second layer" on top of Consent Overlays. Once activated, the Usercentrics CMP controls Consent Overlays depending on your consent decision. If you deactivate Usercentrics, Consent Overlays will still work, but use their own consent control system.

Do I need a license for Usercentrics?

Yes!

We provide the Usercentrics Integration, but the Usercentrics license needs to be purchased separately. However, you can still use our tools without Usercentrics. Read more about the so called Consent Overlays.

I've already purchased a Usercentrics license. Can I use it?

Yes!

Usercentrics for YOOtheme Pro works with every valid Setting-ID.

I use eRecht24 Premium. Is your extension compatible with it?

Yes!

eRecht24 provides a Cookie Consent Generator for Usercentrics. Once you have saved your settings the generator outputs an HTML code for your website. Simply copy the Setting-ID included in this code and paste it into our plugin.

Insights

Is Smart Data Protector and YOOtheme Data Protector the same thing?

No!

Smart Data Protector was invented by Usercentrics and prevents external services from being executed. However, it cannot prevent scripts from being preloaded from third-party servers. Moreover it doesn't handle external services that come with YOOtheme Pro properly, i.e. Google Analytics, Google Maps and OpenStreetMap. The same applies to external services that come with DPCalendar.

YOOtheme Data Protector is a short script that was explicitly invented for YOOtheme Pro and fits perfectly into it. It prevents scripts from being executed and from being preloaded from third-party servers like Google - unless the user has given his consent. It already supports a small number of other Joomla! extensions and is being developed to support more and more extensions natively.

Why do you block Google Maps? It doesn't seem to set any cookies.

Cookies aren't the only way to collect personal data. When preloading external scripts and with each request corporations like Google get to know your IP address, the date and time of visit, geographical location and may create profiles.

This is one reason why German jurisdiction has banned external embedding of Google Fonts. For more information please read our article. It is written in German and you may want to use a translation tool to read it ;-)

My YOOtheme Pro style won't be applied to the CMP. What's going wrong?

Nothing is going wrong.

This is an expected behaviour. The Consent Management Platform (CMP) is a SaaS solution and uses its own Shadow DOM. Shadow DOMs separate their elements from any design specifications that apply to the ordinary DOM.

If you want a CMP with your own logo and design you need a fully featured Usercentrics license starting at 50€ per month. For more information please contact us.

Terms

Do you offer a refund if I am not satisfied with your product?

No.

We do not offer any refunds. Once you have purchased a subscription, this is final. Before you purchase a subscription, we encourage you to subscribe to our free plan. Thus, you can install our products and test its suitability for your purposes. The free plan automatically ends after the trial period.

My domain has changed. Can I continue to use your software?

Yes.

All products are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

However, updates and support are only available to customers with an active subscription. The number of websites which receive automatic updates and support is limited by the subscription type and specified on the pricing page.

Support is only provided for the number of sites - site means domain with single system - agreed within the chosen subscripton. Once this limit is reached further support is only provided for one more site until the end of the subscription.
